Yaya’s Place
Set in the quiet mountain village of Vathiako, at the foothills of majestic Psiloritis, Yaya’s Place offers a deeply authentic Cretan experience in a region shaped by centuries of history. Just a short 15-minute drive from the coastal towns of Kokkinos Pirgos and Agia Galini, this traditional stone house invites you to step into a slower rhythm of life—one defined by simplicity, nature, and a deep connection to the island’s roots.
Surrounded by olive groves and the remnants of Venetian and Ottoman heritage, Yaya’s Place feels like a journey back in time. The village itself whispers stories of ancient temples, frescoed chapels, and age-old footpaths once walked by shepherds, rebels, and locals alike. Here, high in the hills, the spirit of Crete is alive and well.
With two bedrooms and space for up to four guests, this lovingly restored home once belonged to the owner's grandmother—Yaya—who lived off the land, raising sheep and tending olives. Today, her legacy lives on in the warmth of the stone walls, the peaceful garden, and the mountain air that fills every corner.
Guests can unwind in the private Jacuzzi, dine under the open sky with a garden barbecue, or retreat indoors to a spacious living room, walk-in showers, and a fully equipped kitchen. Every detail—from plush dressing gowns to locally inspired touches—reflects the care and authenticity that define this special place.
Yaya’s Place is not just a holiday home—it’s an invitation to experience Crete as it truly is: grounded, generous, and timeless.
